Good food at good prices!

I was on a solo geocaching adventure. after 40 + hours on the road, 3 hours - sleep, 26 virtual geocaches, 2 webcam geocaches ( 1 mean one I might add ... lol), an AR, a math mystery (oooo math makes my head hurt), a few tough trads and 1 dnf ( I hate it when I do not find - dnf - a geocache... grrrrr), I was and am still a little groggy. I was very hungry and needed breakfast, a friendly face, and some great hot coffee. I found all 3 at this wonderful little cafe in Ovid Michigan, so many miles away from my hometown I noticed a local family - 20 strong - have a wonderful breakfast together - very nolstalgic. The atmosphere was wonderful, staff friendly, the food was good and the coffee strong and hot... just the way I like it.I was so tired, but it was like sitting at home, relaxing - I exhaled an just enjoyed the experience. ohhh wait ... look at all those virtual geocaches in Detroit ... can you say ROAD TRIP next week!

Nice small town diner with friendly staff

Took a little while but the food was good.I got the Breakfast burrito, it was more of an open face burrito but it was tasty

I want to like it being my hometown cafe. My service is usually great. But my food not so much. My burger is always raw, and my breakfast is always cold and eggs are always too burnt to eat. I have sadly given up. Hopefully they get a new cook that puts out work they are proud of.

Charming small town restaurant with wholesome food and service. Modesty priced too but it's not McDonald's because they have to cook my food. Tastes better anyway!

Very friendly and hospitable. Note: A sundae is 3-4 scoops of ice cream but they will make any size.

The best cheese enchiladas in The Shiawassee county area. I know this bc I love enchiladas and get them everywhere I can. I go back for Ovid Cafes enchiladas over and over. Keep up the yummy work.

Great food, excellent service

Good home town cafe.

First you have to get past the funky smell that a good cleaning would most probably get rid of. Then you have to ignore the dust that is caked onto the ceiling fans and the filth that is present throughout this restaurant. Service was great, waitress was friendly, food was barely tolerable. Hash browns were soft and mushy, omelet was tasteless with barely any cheese. Ice tea tasted funky, so I didn't drink it. Potato soup tasted like cooked potatoes in water. We wanted to like this place as we tend to eat at small family owned restaurants and we cannot understand how it has 4+ stars.

Their burgers are excellent, service was excellent and very quaint and pleasant. We will be back every time we pass that way!

I got a shrimp dinner and I could barely eat it it was so fishy smelling and strong I think the shrimp must have defrosted and refrozen it did not taste good

Excellent Mexican food.

Never again. It took 45 minutes to get scrambled eggs. Our server never checked on us or refilled our drinks of coffee & water. I don't mind waiting if a restaurant is full, but it was not. AND if you're going to be a cash or check only restaurant, it should be clearly advertised on the entrance door.

Food was fantastic, big yummy servings was worth the money ...people where nice and friendly...but they only take cash which sucked because I only had money on my card so my friend had to help me pay

Quick bite, cheap too, decent food. I visited with my Grandpa - he's ornery and hard of hearing. The waitress was good matured, but didn't seem to understand that she needed to talk slower, louder and enunciate her words more. Which was fine, I just acted like a translator from young to old. Overall I would recommend visiting this place if you're in the area.

Good food, friendly, homey.

The potato soup is the best! You could go in here for a single cup of coffee and a visit with a friend and end up staying for hours. They don't rush you. Very much everyone is family. I have been going here since I was a child. In fact, at one time my family owned this restaurant. But no matter whose hands it is in, you are still part of this big community family!

Goulash days rate 5 stars!!! Ovid Cafe has the best goulash in the state.

I have to give this place a 5 star, it's peaceful and food is good if you don't like it go to subway I've never had a bad experience here I never give a restaurant a 5star not even a place in lansing
